About Adib Architects
Adib Haydar Architects is a Lebanese architecture and design practice founded by architect Dr. Adib Haydar and interior architect Nour Haydar. Based in Lebanon and working across the Arab world, the practice explores how architecture can create meaning, experience, and lasting value.
We believe architecture is more than a building and more than an image. It is an experience shaped by meaning.
Our work begins with understanding the relationship between people, place, culture, and purpose. We explore how proportion, geometry, light, material, space, and symbolism can transform an idea into an architecture that people can experience, remember, and connect with.
Our approach is influenced by the depth of Islamic and regional architectural traditions, not as styles to reproduce, but as sources of knowledge. We are interested in their understanding of proportion, geometry, light, privacy, transition, spirituality, and the relationship between architecture and human life. We seek to reinterpret these principles through a contemporary language appropriate to its time and place.
At Adib Architects, every project begins with a question: Why should this architecture exist, and what should it give to people and its surroundings?
The answer guides every stage of the design, from the first sketch and the overall concept to the smallest detail. We believe that meaningful architecture is not achieved by adding more, but by understanding what is essential.
Our practice extends beyond buildings into interior architecture, furniture, art installations, public art, and spatial experiences. Across different scales, we pursue the same objective: to transform ideas, culture, and human needs into spaces and forms with identity and meaning.
Our work is also connected to research and education. Through architectural practice, academic research, and teaching, we investigate the future of architecture and cities, particularly the relationship between human experience, cultural identity, technology, smart cities, and emerging tools such as artificial intelligence.
We do not seek to follow a recognizable style. We seek to develop an architectural language of our own, where simplicity is a consequence of thought and beauty is a consequence of meaning.

Adib Haydar is a Lebanese architect, artist, and urbanist based in Beirut. Before founding his firm, ADIB ARCHITECT & ASSOCIATES, in 2017, he gained extensive experience at several top architectural firms in Beirut.
Regarding his academic background, Adib studied architecture at the Lebanese University’s Institute of Fine Arts and Architecture. Later, he earned a Ph.D. in Smart Cities development from the Doctoral School of Literature, Humanities & Social Sciences in June 2021.
Overall, Adib’s design philosophy is deeply rooted in modernist and minimalist architecture. He draws inspiration from renowned icons like Tadao Ando and Louis Kahn, as well as the rich heritage of Arabic-Islamic architecture. Consequently, his designs employ simple geometric shapes, prioritize natural lighting, and emphasize sensory, spiritual experiences.
To achieve this, Adib utilizes concrete and abstract forms to create sculptural spaces that harmonize with their surroundings. In fact, he describes his work as a modern art form that revives the soul lost in contemporary regional architecture. Therefore, every spatial element receives purpose to evoke wonder.
In addition to architectural design, Adib is an active urban planner. Specifically, he focuses on smart city projects and open-source technologies that enhance urban resilience and improve quality of life.
Nour Haydar
Co-Founder, Interior Architect
Nour Haydar is an accomplished interior architect at ADIB ARCHITECT & ASSOCIATES. Born and raised in Lebanon, she earned her Master’s degree in Interior Architecture from the Lebanese University, Institute of Fine Arts and Architecture in 2019.
As an integral member of the team, Nour plays a crucial role in bringing the firm’s artistic vision to life. Specifically, her work focuses on simplicity and creating spaces that evoke deep emotions rather than mere outward appearances. In fact, designing simple yet impactful spaces requires a keen eye for detail. Therefore, she carefully selects and places materials, objects, and furniture to enhance the spatial experience.
Furthermore, Nour works closely with founder Adib Haydar to blend forms, textures, and colors seamlessly. As a result, their joint efforts create a truly sculptural experience. In these spaces, smooth light grey concrete walls serve as a subtle backdrop, effectively framing and emphasizing any featured artwork.
